Today we are sharing the short and inspiring Bible story of 5 loaves and 2 fish from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 14, verses 13 to 21.
This story shows us the power of faith, obedience, and a willing heart.
Through this miracle of Lord Jesus, we learn how God can multiply even the smallest offering when it is placed in His hands.
The Story of the Miracle of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish
The Bible tells us that one day Lord Jesus got into a boat to go alone to a quiet place. When people heard this, a crowd of people followed Lord Jesus from different towns.
When Lord Jesus saw that crowd, he felt pity for them and healed their sick. All those people stayed with Lord Jesus until evening.
But when the day was ending, his disciples came and said, “Lord, it is getting late. Send the people away so that they can go and buy food for themselves.”
Then Lord Jesus said to them, “You give them food to eat.”
Then Philip said to Lord Jesus, “Lord, where will we get food for them? Even 200 coins worth of bread will not be enough.”
Then, dear friends, the Bible tells us that Andrew, brother of Peter, told Lord Jesus about a boy who had 5 loaves and 2 fish, which he brought to the Lord.
Pay attention, dear friends. Thousands of people were following Lord Jesus because they all believed in the Lord’s miracles, and they had seen how many wonderful works Lord Jesus does. They followed the Lord to hear his words, receive his healing, and to see Him.
This same happened that day. People were there in thousands. Among them, Lord Jesus had done many miracles.
But when evening came, we see that the disciples became worried. They wanted that Lord Jesus himself should tell the people, “It is evening now. Let them go to nearby villages to get their food.”
The disciples had been with the Lord for a long time but still they did not recognize the Lord properly. That is why they said, “Lord, where will we get food for so many people?”
Because earlier they had only seen Him casting out evil spirits, healing the sick, and raising the dead, and they thought the Lord could only do all this.
One more thing we should pay attention to, dear friends, that among those thousands of people there was only one boy who had five loaves and two fish.
Dear friends, it may be that it was the boy’s own meal, which his family had given him. If we imagine, those thousands of people must have had some food, but the heart to give was only with this boy. He, without thinking of his family, brought his food to the Lord.
How many people could eat from these five loaves and two fish? Maybe ten at most. The boy could have thought, “What will happen from my five loaves and two fish?”
But that boy, without thinking anything, gave his bread and fish into the Lord’s hands. He did not know what would happen next.
But the Lord used those five loaves and two fish to feed more than five thousand people.
Life Lesson from the Miracle of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish
Dear friends, here I want to tell you that many times we think in our life, “I don’t have much money. I am very weak financially. I cannot help anyone. Or what difference will my ten twenty rupees make?”
But, dear friends, remember, if you help a person in need, even with one rupee, its fruit God will surely give you.
Just like I told, that boy here did not think how many people could eat from his five loaves and two fish. In the same way, many people today think and hesitate to help anyone.
Dear friends, it does not matter how much you give. What matters is with what heart you are giving.
Dear friends, today I want to encourage you that your heart should become like a child.
Then we see, dear friends, that when those five loaves and two fish were given to the Lord, the Lord lifted them up to heaven, thanked God the Father, and gave them to his disciples so that they could distribute to the people.
Then we see, dear friends, that the disciples also started to distribute those loaves and fish. The Bible tells us that all people ate and were satisfied, and twelve baskets were left.
Here I want to tell you that those loaves and fish became great only when they were placed in the hands of Lord Jesus.
Here we see a principle of blessing: if we want blessings in our home, we should give our home income and all things first into the Lord’s hands.
Dear friends, whenever money comes into your home, whether it is monthly salary or your business profit, before spending it, you should give it to the Lord and thank the Lord.
Along with this, dear friends, you should pray to the Lord that He blesses this money so that it is not wasted. Not only this, dear friends, from whatever you earn, the first part should always go to the Lord.
Then you will feel how much the Lord blesses your little money. That little money will become enough for you.
Along with this, dear friends, I want to tell you that when you do this, in the same way as from five loaves and two fish more than five thousand people were fed and twelve baskets were left, similarly, all resources in your home will be blessed.
Dear friends, whatever resources you have, before using them, you should first bring them to the Lord.
This is what we learn from today’s event. Our God is a God of abundance. In His storehouse, there is no lack. He gives to everyone very generously. But He sees what our heart is like.
Today we see many people who earn thousands or lakhs per month, but still in their home, there is financial shortage. Many kinds of diseases surround their family, and most of their money is spent on useless things. Many people like to buy useless things, which have no meaning. This happens to them because they do not place their income and source into the Lord’s hands.
There are also many people who earn only eight, ten, or fifteen thousand per month, but still they do not face any shortage because they first give their money to the Lord, and the Lord blesses them and does not let them lack anything.
Dear friends, it does not matter how much you earn. What matters is how blessed your money is.
If you follow the principles given in this video, I assure you, you will never feel lack, and you will see the Lord’s blessings in your life.
